Welcome to Collier Row Nursery

The nursery and pre-school opened in 2007 and is located in the Collier Row Children’s Centre, within easy access of Rise Park, Romford and Harold Hill.

Older children access two open-plan rooms and large outdoor classroom that are spacious, colourful, and have age-appropriate equipment designed to promote children’s learning and independence.

For the younger babies there is a cosy and intimate room for them to make the transition from home to nursery and start gain their independence.

Baby Nest

The Baby Nest caters for babies from birth to 18 months old. The room is separated into several cosy play areas full of natural resources to support babies’ learning and engage their natural curiosity. There is a black and white construction area with soft and wooden blocks, a cosy book nook and an open floor space for mark making, messy play and physical development.

Sensory resources within the cosy area including fibre optic lights, textured materials and musical instruments that build on the babies’ sensory awareness.

Starfish Room

Children move to this room once they are confident walkers or around their second birthday. The room is designed with various play areas to support the children’s learning and development. There is a cosy area for stories and family time, a construction area where children can play with various construction materials and carpeted areas for children to explore small world play, puzzles and role play activities.

Messy play and mark making are important to children’s learning, sand/water play, painting, play-dough and other creative opportunities are offered daily.

Windsor Tower: An indoor physical play area including stairs, a slide and platform for children to explore their physical abilities within a safe environment.

Dolphins Room

Within this room children develop the skills necessary to support them in their move to school through carefully planned, fun activities. Children’s independence will flourish as they access a range of educational resources preparing them for their future school environment.

Messy play is an important part of children’s learning so these activities are encouraged with sand/water play, painting, play-dough and other creative opportunities.

Other Information

Roadside parking is available.

A catering company is used to provide freshly cooked, healthy meals for the children every day.

Outdoor Play

The younger children have access to a protected outdoor classroom to enjoy the fresh air and experiment with their world.

The large exciting outdoor classroom is filled with endless opportunities to engage with nature, socialise and develop their growing body and mind.

Our senior management team has qualifications ranging from BA (hons) in Early Years Education, Childhood Studies to a Masters in Early Years Education including Early Years Professional Status.

An experienced Qualified Early Years Teacher works with the pre-school children.

Buses – A range of bus routes pass through Collier Row – 294, 165, 175, 252, 247 and 375 with the 365 stopping right outside the nursery.

Trains – The nursery is situated close to the Abellio Greater Anglia line at Romford Station going in and out of London.
